Art pieces can be found at and Kenmore Gallery in Brisbane, Australia.  She features on the Artsy Shark, Brisbane Artists, Art Connect and Colour In Your Life.

Sandi was born and raised in the Queensland bush, and now resides in Brisbane.  She is a mother, kindergarten teacher and an E.S.L. teacher. She began learning to draw and paint in order to illustrate the children’s stories she writes in her spare time, but since discovering her passion for art she has moved her focus to painting.

Sandi has illustrated and written or co-written 19 story books for children, 7 of her own and 12 others with Aboriginal Elders, Dr. Ruth Hegarty and Uncle Joe Kirk.  These have been published by Scholastic Australia. Several of these books are already available in book stores. Others will follow into the book shops as soon as printing is complete.

Sandi focuses mainly on painting animals interacting with one another.  There’s a story in every painting and viewers can have fun creating their own versions.

Sandi says of her paintings ‘I like to think there is a story unfolding behind the scenes and I’ve captured the characters hatching a plot or deep in thought.’

Sandi continues to develop her skills and explore her passion and joy for art and sharing it with others.

Exhibition curator Bernie Hollett said, “In 2015, Tattersall’s Club celebrated its 150th anniversary. To mark this milestone and to commemorate 25 years of the Landscape Art Prize, Tattersall’s Club Committee has made available a selection of winning entries for a regional tour. We are delighted to share these works with regional Queensland.”

Since 1990, Tattersall’s Club has conducted its prestigious national art award, which has allowed the Club to acquire significant paintings by well-known Australian artists. Many artists who have won the Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize have been finalists or winners of major Australian art prizes such as the Archibald Prize, the Wynne Prize, the Sir John Sulman Prize, the Portia Geach Memorial Award, the Moran Art Prizes, the Glover Prizes and the Fleurieu Art Prize.

The 15 artworks in this exhibition have been selected because of their connection to Queensland – many locations depicted are Queensland landscapes. Collectively, they present a diversity of ways of viewing and interpreting our landscape. The exhibition features a range of painting styles including traditional, contemporary, narrative, industrial and urban, by mid and senior career artists.

Tattersall’s Club Landscape Art Prize opens at the Roma on Bungil Gallery on the 24th February at 5.30pm, where it will be exhibited until the 9th April.

The exhibition is supported by an Education Resource and a free curators talk by Ms Bernie Hollett, the Tattersall’s Club Art Curator, at 11am on Saturday 25th February at the Roma on Bungil Gallery.

Pat Hinz - "This Moment in Time"

17 Aug 15 - 20 Sep 15, 12:00 am

I have been painting for over 30 years and at this time in my artistic journey I am experimenting with different media in my paintings. Most paintings end up with some watercolour, ink, pastel, acrylic, oil pastels and various other found pigments. I love to paint and do so most days.
I live and work on the land and painting the bush around me is a great inspiration – but almost any subject can get the creative juices flowing. Of late I am also leaning towards the abstract – experimenting with colour and how the different media interact.
I love to travel and many paintings evolve from these trips. The Australian outback being a favourite topic.
I paint with a particularly supportive group of artists in the Miles Art Group, and enjoy the process of learning from one another. We have taken advantage of many visiting tutors over the years and I also try to get to Summer Schools etc when possible.
Painting is my passion. I experience such joy from making art – time just disappears when I am painting.

"Slice of Life"

8 May 15 - 21 Jun 15, All Day

Cassie Swanson, and Trish Arden, two accomplished artists from Augathella and Tambo, are combining to present “A Slice of Life” at the Roma on Bungil Gallery, from Friday 8th May to Sunday 21st June. The opening night is 5.30 pm Friday 8th May, and everyone is invited.

Cassie Swanson is inspired by the softer visions she sees in her country, and portrays these beautifully with watercolour. Rainclouds and storms, children and flowers all capture her imagination. Recently she has embarked on a dance with acrylics, which has led her down a joyful path.Cassie paints with a gentleness and empathy, that belies the often harsh environment she lives in. She imbues her paintings with her own upbeat, positive personality.

Trish Arden is larger than life, and so are her paintings. Trish paints with gusto and verve. She handles acrylics, oils, and pastels with masterful aplomb. Her large floral paintings are her signature pieces, and are as colourful and full of life as the artist herself. Her life on the land has led her to escape into her art, where her passion for expressing herself in paint is the bonus for all of us.
With thanks to Santos GLNG and Maranoa Regional Council.
