Well known for her vivid depictions of the arid Channel Country, in this exhibition celebrated outback artist Lyn Barnes pays tribute to the iconic Australian poem, “My Country” by Dorothea Mackellar.
Throughout her thirty-year career as a professional artist, Lyn has painted the far horizons and sweeping plains of the wide brown land. This collection illustrates the diversity of the Australian landscape through flood and fire and famine.
Whilst the majority of the work is based on material recorded by herself, Lyn would like to acknowledge and thank Mary Scott, Lauren Gilligan, Michael Buys and Jacki Erikson who provided images for inspiration.
Lyn Barnes’ work is held in public and private collections throughout Australia and internationally.
